What is the Keto (Ketogenic) Diet?
In a nutshell, the Keto diet it’s a high-healthy-fat, and extremely low-healthy-carbohydrate program with an “adequate” amount of protein thrown in. The Keto diet is highly recommended by dietitians and sport nutrition specialist, as well as the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. In fact, Vogue Australia declared, “Keto is the new paleo.”
The purpose of the Keto diet is to put and keep your body in a metabolic state called ketosis (fat burning state). The body normally burns carbohydrates for energy, but when the amount of carbs is restricted, the body will break down stored fat, creating molecules called ketones to use as fuel.
There’s nothing dangerous about Ketosis, in fact, it is a normal physiological process. The Keto diet enables the body to maintain that state all the time which helps the body to burn excessive fat.
